OnePlus 6, 6T Android 10 Update Rollout to Happen This Month OnePlus was the second non-Google smartphone company to release Android 10 update to the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro smartphones. Today, at the OnePlus 7T series launch event, it confirmed that four more OnePlus smartphones would get the Android 10 update. By the end of October, the OnePlus 6 and 6T owners will get the OxygenOS 10 version that will be based on Android 10. Later in Q2 2020, OnePlus will release the same update to OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones as well. So overall, OnePlus will push Android 10 update to six already released smartphones. For the unaware, the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro runs Android 10 out of the box, so it will get two major Android iterative upgrades- Android 11 and Android 12. Last year, OnePlus promised that it would roll out software updates for three years to all of its smartphones. The company will release two major Android updates to every smartphone, and for the third year, OnePlus phones will get monthly security patch updates. OnePlus, HMD Global and Essential are the only brands to release three years of software updates to its smartphones. New OxygenOS Stats Revealed as Well OnePlus smartphones are known for software updates and especially OxygenOS is loved by a lot of users out there. Some users even update their older OnePlus phones with newer modes to experience the latest features of OxygenOS. At the start of the event, OnePlus revealed some statistics related to OxygenOS. The Chinese company says it has rolled out 115 stable OxygenOS updates so far and has taken 70,000 pieces of feedback from the users. Over 10 million OnePlus smartphone users received over-the-air (OTA) updates from the company. And the company has over 80,000 Open Beta users alongside over 400 Closed Beta users. OxygenOS 10 comes with a plethora of new features. Firstly, it’s based on Android 10 and the company has improved over 150 animations, including a new smooth screen unlock. Earlier, OnePlus confirmed that its future smartphones would come with Fluid AMOLED screens, meaning 90Hz refresh rate will be present on all upcoming OnePlus phones. To offer a smooth experience, OxygenOS has been optimised with the 90Hz screen. OnePlus says OxygenOS 10 will be smooth and seamless, comes with improved Zen Mode, Smarter Gallery app and a new customisation section is also present inside the Settings app.
